Spice Village Thekkady - a CGH Earth Experience

Best CGH Property! Amazing staff! Renju, the AGM goes above and beyond! We came back this year and the service is phenomenal. Great food and service at the restaurant by chef Shinto and staff! Great relaxing, rejuvenating experience. The staff take care of all your needs and the ambience is so inviting to have a calm and relaxed stay!

I don’t usually leave reviews, but our stay at Spice Village in Thekkady was so exceptional that I felt compelled to write one. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was warm and genuine. Every member of staff we met was kind, attentive, and clearly took pride in what they do. It’s rare to feel so looked after without it feeling forced, here, it was effortless. The facilities were just as impressive. The whole property is beautifully maintained, and there’s a real sense of peace as you walk through the lush greenery. We especially enjoyed the organic garden tour and the pool area, which was always clean and never overcrowded. Even the smallest details, like the eco-friendly touches in the rooms, made a big impression. And then there’s the food. Honestly, some of the best we had during our time in Kerala. Every meal was fresh, flavourful, and thoughtfully prepared, with plenty of local ingredients and variety. Breakfast was a particular highlight, with a mix of traditional South Indian dishes and continental options. We also loved the evening herbal tea and the emphasis on sustainability throughout. If you’re heading to Thekkady and want somewhere that feels both luxurious and rooted in nature, I can’t recommend Spice Village highly enough. It’s more than just a place to stay, it’s an experience in itself.

Spice Village was a highlight of our 3-week holiday. Beautiful, clean accommodation, the food is the best we had on our trip - think fresh, spicy, authentic. The taste lingers in my memories. Our naturalist guide Alka was amazing. Her knowledge, enthusiasm and ability to share and impart her expertise made our trekking (walking and rafting) and safari days out so interesting and magical. She looked after us so well. It was joyful. Thank you Alka. Also special thanks to Francis who taught us how to play games again. He spent time showing and playing solitaire, Chromino and other fun board games from a whole array in the Club House. This means more than you can know. We now continue to play these games at home and will take them with us when we travel. Thank you to both these fantastic people and all at Spice Village. I call it a playground for adults with an enthusiasm and genuine desire to want to welcome guests in a nurturing, low key and meaningful way. Make this your number one priority place to visit. It will not disappoint.

One of my favourite hotels in India. This place was beautiful and calming. Felt earthy. No TV in the room. Everything is aimed as sustainable. Food was really good. There was a pool, but we didn’t use it, Staff were friendly. Would have liked to stay longer here.

This entire stay was magical!!! We stayed here one night but our overall experience has been so beautiful it's difficult to express in words. From the moment we were welcomed to the briefing on property and our stay.. the rooms were out of the world. Every corner of this property was so beautiful. There were indoor games too and Francis one of the staff member there played with us. His effervescent smile and charm simply won our hearts. Each staff was smiling and so helpful. Food was a bit expensive and menu limited for lunch and dinner. But that did not bother us a bit. Breakfast was simply amazing! Every so healthy and all organic! We would surely visit again! This is close to both Elephant junction and Periyar reserve which is barely a walking distance. Therefore great for sightseeing as well.
